Words Hurt as Well as Sticks and Stones (Part II)

So many times we say things about ourselves that are so demeaning, and we wonder why things are so unfavourable for us. We put negative energy in the world to multiply and follow us. Even if it’s a joke; the words are still released in the same way. It’s one of the reasons you are to blame for your misfortunes. Be kind to yourself; praise yourself for all the things you have accomplished. You are terrific, and it is time you realise the impact your presence has on the universe.… Read more Words Hurt as Well as Sticks and Stones (Part II)

Words Hurt as Well as Sticks and Stones (Part I)

Have you ever wondered why certain words are spelt or pronounced the way they are even though it doesn’t seem logical? I was often confused as well until I stumbled on a lecture about etymology. Etymology is the study of the origin of words and how their meanings have changed throughout history. I found this fascinating as it was revealed to me that English is a mix of other languages with “English pronunciations” and these words are rooted in primarily Greek and Latin words, and these Greek and Latin words… Read more Words Hurt as Well as Sticks and Stones (Part I)

Day of Creativity (Part II)

I committed myself to having a monthly “day of creativity”. A day where I would disconnect all devices, be in tuned with nature and release all the words that have been forcefully oppressed. I didn’t know what day I would choose; I thought about the same day each month, but that felt too predictable, and unlike me so I decided to let my body tell me when it was time. Many times I ignored my intuition and regretted it, so now I’m all for listening. I had booked my birthday… Read more Day of Creativity (Part II)

Day of Creativity (Part I)

At the beginning of the year, I made a vow that I would take the time to “go off the grid” to reset and realign focus on the things that are important to me. I heard of this idea when I went to a workshop last year. “It sparked creativity,” she said, and it was able to propel her in the personal and professional aspects of her life. I felt I needed to do that because I haven’t been able to write a poem in ages, and I felt shattered.… Read more Day of Creativity (Part I)

šŸ„³Celebrating MilestonesšŸ„³

If my blog were a baby, she would be at the point where she is more aware of her surroundings. She would try to talk, producing sounds unfamiliar to me, and mimic everything I do. We would both have that love and trust surrounded by unlimited happiness. Six months ago, I decided to be brave enough to publish my first post publically and chose to keep the consistency. It was such a nerve-wracking experience as I was scared of the rejections I would face when I made myself vulnerable by… Read more šŸ„³Celebrating MilestonesšŸ„³

My Poetry Challenge

I thought it! I said it out loud! I did it! As part of my theme this year, I wanted to push myself towards writing more poetry. I convinced my friend that we should do a writing challenge; we would alternate picking themes for the month, write at least three poems and send them as voice notes or messages to each other. My friend agreed, and we went on our 2020 journey. The theme for January was “Having the Strength to Let Go,” decided by yours truly! At the end… Read more My Poetry Challenge
